The 2023 Great American Beer Festival may not have garnered as much hype as previous years, but Colorado breweries made their most impressive showing in recent memory at the awards, which took place Saturday morning.
Colorado Breweries Who Won Big at the 2023 GABF Competition
For the second consecutive year, the state of Colorado improved on its total medal count at the Great American Beer Festival and this year took a massive jump. This year, independent breweries from the Centennial State took home 40 medals, the most since 2017 and up from 26 the previous year. And for the second year in a row, a Colorado brewery took home top honors as one of the Brewery of the Year categories, that brewery being Wibby Brewing, which took home Brewery of the Year honors in the 5,001 - 15,000 Barrels per Year category.

Colorado Brewers Collect 24 Awards at World Beer Cup�
The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) is pleased to congratulate the 19 Colorado breweries, 18 of which who are craft breweries, that collected a total of 24 awards at the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May 10, 2023 in Nashville, TN where awards were given in 103 beer-style categories.
Colorado Breweries Win Big at 2023 World Beer Cup Awards
In the first year that the Brewers Association moved the 2023 World Beer Cup to a yearly event, Colorado breweries came out and had themselves a massive showing. Often referred to as the Olympics of Beer Competitions, the World Beer Cup features breweries from across the world vying for medals. This year's competition featured 10,213 entries from 2,376 breweries across 51 countries entered into 103 categories, and Colorado's contingent showed out in a MAJOR way taking home 24 medals from 19 breweries.

After earning a Bronze medal at this year's World Beer Cup, Atari's Lantern, a Jasmine Rice Lager, is back on tap at Denver's The Empourium Brewing Co. First released in January 2022, The name Atari's Lantern is a reference to Wes Anderson's film, Isle Of Dogs. The name also serves as a nod to the taproom's dog-friendly environment.

First look at Empourium: Denver's newest neighborhood brewery
The Empourium, Denver's newest independent brewery, will open its doors in the Berkeley neighborhood beginning March 29.
